Learn What to Do if You Received a Social Media Monitoring Notification

If you received a Social Media Notification, we encourage you to be proactive so an identity thief does not take control of your social media account. You want to prevent your account from being used to post malicious content, enable fraudulent money transfer, infect your device, etc. We recommend that you take immediate action to protect your social media accounts by doing the following:
  1. Check the person posting on your account and block them if they are suspicious.
  2. Use a strong and unique password for all your social media accounts. Do not use a same password for all your accounts; and
  3. Set up two-factor authentication whenever available with a website.
If you want to remove or reconnect a social media account for monitoring, use the information below.

Reconnecting your social media account for monitoring

Your social media account may get delinked from social monitoring if you have updated the login credentials to your social media account, or if there was an internal issue that prevents connecting to your social media account. Use the information below to reconnect your account in such cases.
  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Under Monitored Info tab, scroll down to Social Media Accounts section.
  3. Click Reconnect option under the social media account that has failed to connect.
  4. If prompted, enter the login credentials for the account.

Removing an account from monitoring

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Under Monitored Info tab, scroll down to Social Media Accounts section.
  3. Next to the account that you no longer want to monitor, click Remove.
  4. Confirm to remove this account from monitoring.
