Losing your wallet is alarming and stressful. If you have misplaced it — or worse, if it has been stolen — you need to know what you should do. Whatever the reason, there are important steps you need to take to protect your personal data if your wallet is ever lost or stolen.
Stolen Wallet Assist by Lenovo Identity gives guidance to help cardholders cancel or replace your credit cards, driver's license, Social Security cards, insurance cards and more if your wallet is stolen. 

Here is what you can do to replace your lost documents as well as protect your information:

Drivers License

Go to your local DMV to report and replace your Driver’s License.

Credit Card/Debit Card

Contact the issuers of your credit and debit cards to report and replace your lost cards and request a new PIN.
    1. Monitor your account activity closely. Report any suspicious activity to your financial institution immediately.
    2. Change your online account username if you have the option.
    3. Change your online account password.
    4. Set up 2-factor authentication if available for your online banking. You can visit Two Factor Org for more information.

Checkbook

    1. Contact your bank for a replacement account.
    2. Change your online banking username if you have the option.
    3. Change your online banking password.

Social Security Card (United States)

    1. Check your credit report regularly for unauthorized activity.
    2. Put a security freeze on your consumer report with the National Consumer Telecom & Utilities Exchange and ChexSystems.
    3. To order a free replacement Social Security Card, use this link for instructions.
    4. Register for an online account with the Social Security Administration to securely access information from your Social Security record, including earnings and benefits history.
    5. Place fraud alerts with the major credit bureaus - Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. To place a Fraud Alert with Equifax, please use this link for the online report or call their toll free number 1-888-766-0008. Once you have the Fraud Alert placed on your credit file, Equifax will forward the alert request to Experian and TransUnion so you will not need to contact each of them separately.

Passport (United States)

Report your passport lost or stolen one of three ways:
    1. Submit a DS-64 form online.
    2. Call toll free at 1-877-487-2778
    3. By mail: use form DS-64 (PDF, Download Adobe Reader) and mail it to the address on the form.

Medicare Card (United Stats)

    1. Check your Medicare Summary Notice (MSN) for services you did not receive and if you spot any, report them to the Inspector General’s fraud hotline at 800-HHS-TIPS (800-447-8477)
